Viconsys to supply major machine vision system

The competitiveness and operational benefits of the digital machine vision technology developed by Viconsys have seen Idaho-based Clearwater Paper Company place an order for a complete paper mill Web Break Analysis (WBA) and Web Inspection System (WIS). The order is the paper industry’s largest-ever machine vision technology delivery.

Viconsys’ unified process and quality vision system will be used to equip two liquid packaging board machines and two PE extruder machines – and will be able to detect and record both web defects and other process problems. All the machines will benefit from Viconsys’ unique multilayer technology based on LED sequential lighting and which allows different board layers to be inspected simultaneously.

The order includes some 200 high-speed intelligent digital cameras, flash-based LED light beams, and real-time Image Analysis Processors.

The investment will enable Clearwater Paper to guarantee a very high level of quality control for its liquid packaging board and improve the overall efficiency of its machines.
