New Materials & Processes

ENGINEERING FROM Finland, along with materials and logistics know-how, continue to rank among some of the best anywhere.

Designing, building, and powering ships capable of navigating through the thickest ice, as well as the world’s largest cruise liners, is something that Finnish companies know how to do very well. Icebreakers can be explained by Finland’s northern location, of course, but it may come as more of a surprise that Finland is also home to extensive expertise in nanomaterials, lasers, and composites.

Finnish equipment also often plays a major part in keeping mines and mineral production around the world running at its best. And we shouldn’t forget that an increasingly large proportion of weather forecasts worldwide are generated using data from systems developed in Finland – or that many of the world’s elevators and cargo terminals systems use technology from a Finnish company.
